A 4K monitor would be 16:9 and is the hardest thing in the world to run games at that reseloution.

A 3440X1440 is 21:9 which may mean that in some games you end up with black bars but it is slightly easier to run games at that reselouiton.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

Well lets say hardware was not a problem with it.

well 4k is 3840x2160, its higher both in vertical and horizontal pixels ... sooo 4k is better regardless :) its worth the investment if you have the gpu horsepower.

If by "hardest thing in the world" you mean "980 ti or equivalent"... I mean it's still hardly cheap, but it's not the gargantuan feat you're making it out to be.

Well there aren't any higher reselotioun monitors (other than those stupid 5K ones) so it is the hardest thing in the world to run.

totally agree with you! fed up with all the BS from people without 4k displays saying sli titans can't even play games at 4k 60fps...

think there should be a ban on people with opinions on things they dont have!! personally experience is a lot more accurate than listening to someones opinion on youtube!!

If you have a 4K monitor for gaming. What do you think, would you say a 3440x1440p would be better for gaming.

Um yeah, 4K surround is a thing. That is difficult.

3440x1440 is great if you really want a Surround/Eyefinity setup without the bezels. If that is something that interests you more than really high DPI and the highest visual fidelity (at the moment) possible but in a 16:9 ratio, then ultrawide is for you.

If you are happy with 16:9 and want basically what you already have but better, then 4K is more your thing.

Or you could be more inclined to wait for 2160p ultrawide to be more obtainable.

no i think 4k is best for gaming, as its the highest resolution thats of a standard (i.e not a one off like the 5k displays)

if you have a pc that is capable of running games at 4k, then why get anything less than 4k!?!? just doesnt makes sense to me, unless you're a competitive CS:go player where 144hz is more important than visuals, sure.. thats a reason i guess..

put it this way, i went to my friends the other day and he has a 1440p monitor and was playing GTA V (he has a 780ti so was maxing it out) and i was actually shocked at how different it looks to 4k, it was for me almost like the difference between a console at 1080p and a pc maxed out at 1080p!

The biggest difference is that 4K will have 50 more pixels per square inch.

yes lol.. if it wasn't noticeable nobody would by 4k and save money on a 1440p monitor.

you basically get another 1080p's monitors worth of pixels! buy which ever you want though, at the end of the day if you dont try both you'll never know the difference, so you'll be happy either way.

The worst thing about pedants is when they're wrong. 4K has many definitions and it has been standard for 4K and UDH to be synonymous for some time now.

21:9 > all, anyone who has played on 21:9 will agree

so, the max resolution you can get now is 3440x1440...

and looking forward to 5120x2160

"Ultra-high-definition television (also known as Super Hi-VisionUltra HD televisionUltraHDUHDTV, or UHD) includes 4K UHD (2160p) and 8K UHD (4320p)"

You're arguing conventions as if the existence of one nullifies the other -- it doesn't.

No i havent, but i completely comprehend how awesome it is. However, 4k is irrelevant to me. The highest resolution 21:9 is all that counts. Once you game on 21:9, you get that mindset.
