Z97-A(R) Q-fan control issue

Köhvwezd

So I have an issue with the BIOS "Q-fan control" of my recently purchased Z97-AR. In AI Suite 3, I can set the fan speeds of my chassis fans to as low as 25-30%, but in the BIOS I can only set them to 60% minimum. I'd rather not have AI Suite installed just for fan control, since I like to do my overclocking in the BIOS. Is there any way to fix this or override the limit somehow? Or do I just have to suck it up and use AI Suite?

I'm with you, the only reason I have AI suite is for Fan Xpert 3.

Forgive me El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education...

I prefer speedfan.  I used fan xpert 3 for my z97-a briefly but I really dont like not being able to control fan speeds off of the gpu temps (correct me if they've fixed this) and it seemed like the program was changing things on me.  I'm almost certain speedfan uses less resources as well.  I dont remember what fan xpert uses but speedfan uses ~4.9mb of ram and (obviously?) never hits 1% of my cpu.

Speedfan can take a little bit to set up but gives you complete control of all your fans based on any of your hardware with temp sensors.

if you want to use it and need a hand let me know I'd be glad to help.

Fan Xpert uses 5,9 MB of RAM so it's not really a significant difference, but I'll try Speedfan anyway. AI Suite probably takes more resources at system startup than Speedfan.

only thing is I still have not figured out a good way to get it to start at startup without starting it yourself.  I can get it to start at startup but it takes way too long.  I've tried scheduling tasks and shortcuts and just can't get good results so I just start it manually :(  seems like everyone has this same problem

didn't think the resources would be much of a difference but its something!  I think you can uninstall the other aspects of ai suite and just leave fan xpert 3 if that helps also
