Tips to polish this build! :D

Hey guys! I would like to know your opinion on this build ;)

Aclarations:

- I'm open to any recommendation, if you'd like to add something, don't hesitate!

- This build is for a multi-purpose use. Mainly gaming and videogame development work related programs (3DS Max, Unity3D, all the Adobe Suit, etc).

- I'm from Spain, so prices vary a little bit ($ to € and that stuff).

- The XFX 390 is ugly, but has the best price in Spain, and I think that it's going to defend itself better than the 970 in years to come (8GB Vram, etc.)

- I'm flexible with the PSU, preferably something cheap that is at least semi-modular, and higher than 80 Plus Bronze.

- Do you know a good keyboard for about 50$ retroiluminated?

- I added the Deathadder because I know it's awesome, but maybe I missed a "cheaper and also pretty good" mouse, because at a 60$ price point, the Deathadder isn't exactly cheap.

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($328.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: MSI Z97-GAMING 5 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($139.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: XFX Radeon R9 390 8GB Double Dissipation Video Card  ($334.98 @ Newegg)
Mouse: Razer DeathAdder Chroma Wired Optical Mouse  ($58.27 @ Amazon)
Total: $1333.35

Thanks for the help! :D

If this were for my use I'd personally go down to a 4690k and spend more on graphics (maybe getting a 980Ti if you didn't particularly need OpenCL) but otherwise I think it's pretty solid. I guess you could go with a slightly better (higher wattage) PSU if you were planning on going CF down the road and maybe you could downgrade to a 600-650W if you're not thinking about CF.

Sig under construction.

Yeah, you're right, I don't plan on CF, so 750W is a bit overkill, thanks!

I would first get a better cpu cooler, its mainly for them budget builds and since you are running a i7, it would probably best go with a 'higher end one' but thats my opinion.

The power supply, like said before, is kinda overkill. That is unless you are looking to upgrade in the future or want to get the best power efficiency.

Get parts that are available within Spain, there are a lot of Z97 mobos, SSDs, 390s, ATX cases, PSUs and mice there probably.

You would be better using the German or UK partpicker as they have more choice. The prices in UK/Germany should be pretty similar to Spain.

Well, this is what I got.

  • Because you are not overclocking, making the 4790k and 4790 will save you some money and wont affect performance "too much". And along with that the mobo which becomes cheaper too
  • Because of the savings you can afford a better graphics card, which I picked the 980. The new 390x performs just under the 980 in most situations, but if you want amd you can save a bit of money.
  • I changed the power supply because the Evga one has more positive reviews and is manufactured by SUPER FLOWER (the best in the business)
  • The CPU cooler can stay because you are not over clocking along with the other components. But if you do choose to go with the 390x you could probably go a get a better "looking" cpu cooler

I hoped I helped. :)  B)
