Anything I can change to make my build cheaper?

Don't know where to post this so I decided to post it here.

Here is my current plan for my build

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1z1wDUv6uBXVsCXOY6jH02KY7qc0PERuMGr1CKWKqFf8/edit?usp=sharing

Way too much focus on the CPU. Get something like a 4460 and a better GPU.

Although if you don't want to do that, the PSU is overkill for that build, so you could lower that down.

Going for a good platform is not a bad investment. Yours is a short-term better solution, his is a long-term better solution.

One is not better than the other, without defining what the goal of the system is.

I would recommend an air cooler for the cpu probably cooler master 212 something or other and maybe a less over kill cpu and more on the gpu end, also the case and mobo seem maybe a little bit expensive for the build.

I like your profile pic btw  ;)

 Intel i7 4790k, Gigabyte GTX 980 G1, Kingston Hyper X fury 16GB, MSI Z97S SLI Krait, Cooler Master Hyper 212x, NZXT Noctis 450, Samsung 850 EVO 128GB + WD caviar blue 1TB, EVGA 750W G2.

If you're using USD, then get yourself an R9 290 with the GPU money. If using CAD, then get a 280.

Other than that the build looks good for long term use.

Also, as many have said, if you're not planning on OC'ing a significant amount, go with a 212 EVO.

The "goal" of the system is pretty much all around general use; Work, Gaming, Development, and the occasional Adobe Photoshop and premiere

You're paying a little too much for the gpu, ram, and cpu. I would also recommend using pcpartpicker.

My Main PC:

CPUi5 3570k CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper T4 Motherboard: Asus p8z77-v pro  RAM: Crucial Balistic 2x4gb  GPU: Two PNY GTX 680's in SLI Case: Some rando Antec one  PSU: Thermaltake 1000w  Display: HP Elite Display 321i 23''  Storage: Samsung 840 Evo 128gb, Seagate Barracuda 1tb

Do note; I'm buying this stuff off NCIX since i'm canadian.

NCIX tends to have sales too often in which I plan to abuse

So the budget is ~1500 CAD then?

And for allround your setup was better, in general. I would use some other parts. Making a list now.

You should probably get a Z97 Board too, Z87 board were made for the original Haswell CPUs not the refresh one like the 4690k.  More then likely you can download a bios update (if it isn't already installed) but then you have to possibly dick around with trying to update your board without the CPU installed.  Just something to consider.
