Western Digital Black. Seagates are crap and die fast.

Or Blue.

Or Blue.

I have two black's (one in my main and one in my secondary rig) and both are fast as all get out and are great for hardcore gaming.

CPU: INTEL Core i7 4790k @ 4.7Ghz - Cooling: NZXT Kraken X61 - Mobo: Gigabyte Z97X SLI - RAM: 16GB G.Skill Ares 2400mhz - GPU: AMD Sapphire Nitro R9 Fury 4G - Case: Phanteks P350X - PSU: EVGA 750GQ - Storage: WD Black 1TB - Fans: 2x Noctua NF-P14s (Push) / 2x Corsair AF140 (Pull) / 3x Corsair AF120 (Exhaust) - Keyboard: Corsair K70 Cherry MX Red - Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma

Bit of an AMD fan I suppose. I don't bias my replies to anything however, I just prefer AMD and their products. Buy whatever the H*CK you want.

Linus did a video on the WD Black and WD Blue-the Blue actually pulled ahead slightly. (I think it was Linus anyway).

Or that, but why settle for less? Lol

That's great, since all of my Hitachi drives (post '08) have outlasted pretty much everything else.  So...

Me too, surprisingly. I still have a 40GB IDE Deskstar (yes, the infamous Deathstar) that works great today.

My WD AC280 has outlasted every single HDD that I've owned since 1992. And my Seagate HDD were either the most fragile, slowest, hottest or noisiest. (Though its a shame that the Samsung Spinpoint drives are no longer made-their quality equals that of my AC280-and I destroyed the connector on my 7200RPM model, only my 5400RPM Spinpoint is usable).

Same here actually, just the TravelStar version.

My Seagate drives all run cool (other than my 7200.7 which needed some extra help). My WD drives are the hot and slow ones.

No its not, and the powered on count is quite low for a HDD, I've got some HDD still going after nearly 6 years powered on with no damaged sectors.
