What does the SSC stand for in theEVGA Nvidia GTX 970 SSC ACX Cooling 2.0 4 GB Graphics Card. I was just wondering?

By the way do you advise this graphics card, and does it come with a free game? :)

Super Super Clocked I'm pretty sure. All 970's are pretty similar, although people suggest the Gigabyte G1 for overclocking.

A simple Google search could have helped you out. SSC stands for Super Superclocked...that's EVGA for ya. I suggest MSI, Gigabyte or EVGA FTW. Although most people go for the Gigabyte G1 gaming and I couldn't agree more. I just bought one for my new system and I love it!

so would this mean that the GPU will last less as long as a non over clocked version?

I don't quite understand what your asking? Over clocking can decrease the lifespan of a card if that's what your wondering. Specify more

sorry but I'm not majorly knowledgeable with computers. What I'm trying to say is will the聽EVGA Nvidia GTX 970 SSC ACX Cooling 2.0 4 GB, or the聽Asus Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 Strix Graphics Card (4GB, GDDR5, PCI Express 3.0) have a shorter lifespan because they're Super Superclocked by the manufacturer, compared to a non-factory overclocked graphics card?聽(i don't plan on overclocking the card when I buy it, so I want to know If it will still have a long lifespan? (2-3years) ) :)

The manufacturers are usually pretty conservative with their overclocks even if they are named "SSC" or any other variant of being overclocked. The card should last 6-8 years most likely longer since you aren't going to be overclocking it further. You should be more than fine with either one of those. And it isnt just the overclock by itself that can effect lifespan. Binning, manufacturing, and temperatures under load are just some other factors in a cards lifespan. It's hard to get a card down to just 2-3 years for its lifespan unless you are folding or bitcoin mining at home A LOT.

You'll probably have to upgrade to keep up with the latest games before your card dies a spectacular death.

SuperSuperClocked. It's basically silliness.

If you can get the card for cheaper than others and don't mind the lack of a backplate, it's a'ight. Mine wasn't a fantastic overclocker, without pushing an uncomfortable amount of voltage I couldn't hit over 1500MHz stable. I recommend the G1 Gaming.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.

The SSC is a pretty great card, at least for me it is. I might have gotten lucky and got a better card than the average ssc owner. i managed to push it to 1519 mhz quite easily. Although overclocking isn't the reason you go with EVGA. They have a great warranty and awesome customer service. The G1 gaming is a better overclocking card. As to life span, if you don't do anything stupid with it and just use it out of the box, you'll upgrade it before it dies from the factory overclock.
