How much would the Xbox Crystal Clear Edition be worth?

MikoKuch

Hello,

I've owned the original Xbox, the Crystal Clear limited edition to be specific, since I was about 4 years old. Now I've had it sitting on my shelf for a couple of years and I can't decide whether to sell it or to keep it longer, wait until it becomes more valuable and rare, show my future kids how console gaming looked like back then and so on. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to keep playing on it, but I'll need to figure something out since my monitors only have HDMI, VGA and DVI inputs and playing it on the living room TV would annoy my parents. I'm just curious to find out of how much value it would be these days.

Any professional guesstimates, actual prices, etc.?

Thank you in advance.

felt I covered this kinda subject quite well a few days ago will C&P what I said (this was about a ps2 mind you)

Look at this this way.

complete NES that sold

http://www.ebay.com/...=item1c55584cba

The NES was replaced in 1990 (I know you could get them new longer but this just makes it easier.) so you can see the NES has been out of date for...25 years at this point.

That NES sold for a total of $145 USD after shipping.

The nes BRAND NEW was $199, so hes losing money still not even factoring in the rate of inflation, after inflation the NES would be approx $435 in todays money.

Lets disregard the fact that the NES sold about 90 million units less then the PS2 (ps2 sales have only been estimated at 155+ Million so for all we know it moved 100 million more units which wouldn't be unreasonable)

you are probably looking at 20-25 years for the thing to be worth any kind of significant money and even then its still going to be less then what it was new after inflation calculation, (or as in the example of the NES not even sell for more if you disregard inflation) you are likely looking at 40 years to maybe sell it for any kind of collector value..if not more..
