High cpu usage in tf2..

         So I have been using a test pc, testing it out, it has a dual core Pentium at 2.8ghz, and I'm using a 20 inch 768p tv.. For some reason it is running a lot worse then a laptop on the same architecture(sandybridge) with a 1.4ghz Celeron.. and when I go into task manager, its using a high cpu usage, and ot be clear, I pulled a hard drive from a laptop with a 3rd gen mobile i5 The license works, the test pc is a dell inspiron 660s, no side panel, layed sideways, a ziptied hyper t4 cooler(no other choice). It has 4gb of ram.. but I have no idea why its such high usage, and the game as also much more lag Why D: Also, the license key is valid

 

Last thing I have to note is I keep on getting a error with searching for updates, and I don't get any real results when I search it up(atleast when clicking it).

Its a dual core Celeron, obviously its gonna get under heavy load even when doing something like TF.

   No no no, Its a dual core desktop Pentium at 2.8ghz, and its running it a lot worse then a 1.4ghz laptop Celeron would.. Yes, they are oth 2nd gen.

Sorry, misread, but still, theyre both quite low end and Im not surprised that they cant run TF well.

So if I am reading this right, you took a hard drive from a laptop and just plopped it into the computer in question? That alone with screw things up. As for updates, the OS is probably pissed it was removed from it's last place, and the install might be tied to that motherboard.

Sorry, misread, but still, theyre both quite low end and Im not surprised that they cant run TF well.

   The issue is that the Pentium is taking it, runs with all kinds of lag on minal settings, while the Celeron mobile can run it great with a external mouse, maybe with all settings low and medium model quality, but I have everything, EVERYTHING on low with the Pentium, and it still runs very, VERY much worse.

Um... For starters grab the Windows key, and then do a fresh install. That's literally the easiest fix.

    Trust me, not as easy at it sounds. With the original HDD, The drivers were all kinds of corrupt. I put in my windows 8 fresh install disk, I used a notepad code..(I forgot the file type now)

So I try a win vista ultimate oem disk with a license not in use, but when I booted, it would get stuck on a screen, so I pulled the hDD from a laptop, and it was license. If I did a factory reset, It would just be back to the drivers for the laptop..

I had to do something similar with my friends laptop. I downloaded a program (Belarc Advisor I think?), printed out the page with the key, and then booted into a Linux Mint LiveUSB and then used GParted to wipe the drive completely. Then I proceeded to make the Windows flash drive, and boom. She was clean.

            Well thing is, I had the license key.. I put in win 8 install disk, goto setup, and the key that came up with was invalid, and that sounds a little complicated.. and factory resetting is honestly the very last thing I would want to do,e specially on this HDD.

Gotcha. In that case, I'm out of ideas since I go the easy way out.
