Need help with windows 8.1 install

owenrees1

After many hours of research into how to build and set up a pc, I have reached the (potentially) final hurdle in building my first ever computer. However, this is the place where I need your guys' help.

I have watched tutorial after tutorial on how to do it, but the pc doesn't seem to recognize the USB boot drive (I don't have a DVD drive in my computer).

Can one someone please help?

Do you have an odd port on the front so you could install one.

Is the USB dongle 2.0?

Is your boot priority set to Removable storage on top?

You need a genuine untouched Windows ISO. It is best to get a DVD drive, insert Windows disk inside, and make it yourself.

Once you have the ISO, you can use Microsoft own Windows ISO to USB/DVD tool (http://wudt.codeplex.com/), or Rufus (https://rufus.akeo.ie/), to extract and transfer the ISO to your USB flash drive and make it bootable.

You can use another computer for this. But it must be running a 64-bit version of Windows, if you plan on installing Windows 64-bit on your new computer.

Sorry, I am not going to upload a ~3GB ISO file to my server. It will take all day, as I don't have the fastest web servers. Also, the edition of Windows needs to match.

Simply use another system DVD drive to make it.
