Upgrading from a gtx770 2g for 1080p gaming worth it?

So I have a pc with an overclocked gtx 770 2g and I have had some recent issues with the framerate on certain demanding games, therefore I am currently wondering if it would be worth it to upgrade to a newer graphics card. I am just confused as most newer cards seem to only really make a difference in 4k gaming ...

I would definitely want to stick to nvidia and my 1080p monitor :)

Any suggestions would be welcome

GTX 780? Or 780ti? Sell the 770 And put some extra to a 780ti or something? Up to you though.

The GTX 770 can still handle most games, so wait for next generation cards
