780 Classified or 970

So I can get either the $250 780 classified or get a 970. There is a post on EVGA's website for a $260 970 but it has the auto notify on it. Which one should I go for.

Check YouTube gameplays with 780. A lot of people did so. Check framerates and temps, and if you like it get it. Don't forget to check 970 gameplays as well to see which one's better obviously.

It can't make that much of a difference.

Best cooler = better OC

 

And who doesent want a classified... pfft

One thing to take note is that B-Stock 970 may not happen for a long time while I can get the Classy right now.

I say 970. Lower power consumption, lower temps, more vram, newer technology which would help be a little more future proof than a 780.  Just my two cents though

Really? I didn't realize that, from what I've seen the 780 ti performs around the same as a 980.  That's interesting because I'm getting a 970 soon.

The 780 ti is a middle ground between the 970 and 980.

 

I've owned 2 780's & 1 780 Lightning, 1 780 TI Classified, 2 970 G1's and a 980 Classified, I have first hand experience with all of these cards.

 

The 780 Classified won't beat a 970 without being on water, you need to be at or around 1300-1350 mhz with a hefty memory OC too. (These kind of clocks just aren't sustainable on air really) The 780 ti depending on the card will beat the 970 for sure.

 

If you ever plan on getting into really hardcore overclocking, the 780 will wipe the floor with it once you get a waterblock on it though, since it has unlocked voltage for memory + GPU.
