I still have my single-slot, reference design, Sapphire HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 graphics card in my HTPC.

It was my go-to card for Crysis 1 / Warhead, Gears of War, and StarCraft 2 back then.

 

The HD 4000 series is not very powerful now, but it was really something back then -- the HD 4870 was the first GPU to ever use GDDR5.

(LOL, MSI was already using quality components back in the day; solid capacitors rated at 105*C, Hynix VRAM chips  )

 

 

Heck, I even still have THIS...thing. After all these years, I'm still having a hard time identifying what this is, and its specifications...

All I know is it is a "Prolink" VGA with numbers "MVGA-CL5465A (REV. 6F)", and "OKI" memory IC's.

If anyone here can help me solve this "cold case."

My first GPU was an ATI Rage 128 . I recently found and bought a Number Nine VT Imagine 128 II lol, which is just ancient compared to the Radeon HD 4000 series. I think it only has 4MB of VRAM lol.
