Radiator fan choice

Go to solution Solved by Wirerat,

Gentle Typhoons or EK varder

My 3 choices of fans:

$12.37 - be quiet! PureWings 2 120mm (http://www.bequiet.com/en/casefans/449)
$14.93 - Corsair SP120 Quiet Edition  (http://www.corsair.com/en/air-series-sp120-quiet-edition-high-static-pressure-120mm-fan)
$18.62 - Cooler Master Silencio FP 120mm (http://www.guru3d.com/news-story/cooler-master-silencio-fp-series-fans.html) (Cooler Master only links the PWM version on there site)

It seems that the Be Quiet once is the best deal, but since I'm buying a lot of fans, so is it best to confirm first.

EK Water Block Vardar F2 (for silence / performance) or (F3 for more performance at the cost of noise) I wouldnt recommend anything above F3.

But the be quiet! are really good fans if you want to go for them I have nothing against it.

EKWB Vardar F2 comes in at $24.37, where I live. So I can basicly get 2 Be Quiet! once for the same price and the Vardar is not that much better.

Ouch ... they are a lot cheape here. Actualy they are more cheaper than the be quiet! ones so thats why I recommended them.

Go be quiet! then.

Not the corsairs, thats the only absolute im throwing. I've heard great things about the Silencios, and out of those 3 i would go with them. If aesthetics are not a huge concern, the silverstone AP123 are awesome, so are EK vardars, tho they are a tad more expensive. For your choices i'm assuming that you are not gonna spend 25+ for a fan, so Noise blockers and noctuas may not be the best alternative. I personally use AP121s and Phanteks PH-F120MPs in push/pull on a corsair H105 and they are great, but push/pull is unnecesary, i do it for more airflow (front mounted rad) and the AP123s are for what i've heard a bit quieter and barely more expensive.

They are about $13.59 if I import them right from EKWB, plus import tax (25%?) and shipping. So I guess EKWB Vardar F2 comes in at the around $18 then.

I listed the corsair once, because a lot of people seems to use them. Even big names like JaysTwoCents.

SilverStone AirPenetrator AP123 (which I assumed you meant) is about the same price as Be Quiet!, but the blue wont fit a black and red build.

The other fans I dismissed because of the price and/or color.

And since I'm going to buy 38-40 fans, so does price mather.

Ok, just say what your're working with. If you are using so many fans and huge rads, i would just save money, get some quiet black fans at a decent price and slow them down, your rig is gonna run cold anyway. Therefore i'm going with the be quiet! ones simply cause they are the cheapest for you and honestly, getting more powerful fans won't make a difference for you. (And they are very nice fans btw)

I'm getting a Caselabs TH10A, which has room for 5x 480mm rads.

Yes its overkill, but it should be dead silent.

No need to explain it, it's gonna look awesome :) As long as you spend money on things that make you happy, fuck, by all means go for it

Yeah, I thought so, but I wanted to check since its normally a reason fans are cheap.

In case of the Be Quiet! one, so does it seems to be the motor type.

But if no one has anything to say against them, so does that seems like the best choice.

Yeah, but here on the internett so do you need to explain your self all the time :P

Also, since I'm spending so much money, so did I want to make sure I spent it right.

One last thing, the silent wings 2 are way superior to corsairs, if you can get them cheaper, go for it, they tend to go for 20+ dollars each on most places.

In this forum anyone who says that has never made a purchase that wasn't 'necessary' is lying. We would all be using stock coolers, it's about the fun of it, if someone doesnt get it they should leave this forum. And i just checked a bunch of retailers, the silent wings 2 at 12 bucks is a bargain, they are very high quality fan and only reason i wouldn't recomend them in your case is...price, which for some reason is about half for you. Within the whole overkill aspect getting those is still a great deal.

That was the plan.

I found this Cougar fans, the reviews all say they are quiet and they are much cheaper than other options, while having decent SP and all black, worth checking them out

https://pcpartpicker.com/part/cougar-case-fan-cft12sb4

Specially with the quantity you are getting i would just get this and slow them down, not like you are gonna need the extra cooling.

None of my trusted shops have this fan, so I think I will do it simple and get the Be Quiet! PureWings 2.
