Looking for a specific camera need. Couldn't find it.

I'm wondering if there is a camera that you can connect to your phone, or maybe a computer through a program or app via bluetooth or other means. I tried looking but it didn't really produce much. Wondering if these are common, or expensive and hard to get. Looking to set it up for some events to gets peoples reactions without actually having to be there. (I know I could just record it) But I'd rather have it be live.

maby a security camera? thats all i can think of if you want it live

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

I was thinking that but, I'd rather it be more like a regular camera, portable, easier to setup, etc. I don't mind if it couldn't even record video, all I need is it to show a live feed to a computer and or phone.

Do you mean something like a Sony DSC-QX10?

I know it is a bit expensive, but a Panasoic G6 for example send livefeed to a phone. You can also get a bunch of Sony Z2/3 phones and control them with one.

Most DSLRs and point-and-shoots come with some sort of connectivity nowadays, whether it be over bluetooth, NFC, or WiFi-Direct. Nearly all of Sony's lineup includes this functionality, as well as the Sony PlayMemories App where you can control very basic functionality (select models have a built in smart-remote). It depends on your budget, quality of image, and the form factor you're looking for - if you're looking for a good lens, I'd recommend the QX100 which is basically a good bit of glass and the most basic body they could attach to it. Otherwise, a lower end Cybershot would suffice.

I'll look into those, is there an app to use the camera on one phone and send it to another? I've never seen that before, if that's true I can just skip the camera method entirely.. And just use two phones. Does it work via wifi, bluetooth, or 4g/3g? If you don't know it's fine, I'll just look it up.

I need something recording the event, then send live feed to an external source. I don't want to actually be there so I can gauge the reactions.

I don't have a 2nd sony to try it out, but there is a option called Multi-Camera, which can be used to record an event from multiple angles.

I meant like get somebody to skype it so you can watch, and get somebody else to record it locally

Nothing that a camera/phone can do natively, possibly by connecting a camera to a laptop and live-streaming it,

I'll look into that, I wonder how they connect together that could work.

No need to record whatsoever, it's not required. I'm also not trying to have ANYONE else record and or try to hide something, as it will be a surprise. Reason why I'd rather it be a camera or now phone, due to the fact of that you can hide them much easier. I guess two phones on skype could work, but that requires wifi / 3g/4g usage. I would prefer a bluetooth enabled device if that is possible but I don't know. I want it to be as simple as possible.

I'm aware of that, but looking at it from the long run he should still be able to get some decent use out of his equipment beyond this one application, otherwise he would just go grab a bunch of decent action cams (preferrably Go Pros as they are the weapon of choice for livestreaming / recording footage in confined spaces, though my experience with the Sony units has been pleasant thus far).

Bluetooth? so you are going to be like 10m away from whats happening?

You need to explain what you want in more detail

I wont be too far away. It's for certain events with friends, I need to know exact timing to get it right. That's why I need it to be to an external source, but also, I don't want it to be obvious.. Even tho this will probably only be used a few times just to have fun and mess with some people. It doesn't need to record or store video due to the fact that it will be between a small group of people and not needed to be recorded or on youtube or anything.

The reason why I want it to be portable is so I can take it with me, maybe use it for other things. Ex: hunting (track deer without having to be there) Strap it to a car, boat, r.c plane. Just to have fun. I'm sure I could find tons of usage for it. It just depends on how difficult it will be to setup. If it comes down to it I might just have to record and not have that in the moment feeling, which is basically the whole reason why I want it to be live.

For that set of activities, you'd honestly be better off going with a Go Pro - if you want decent quality images, then I'd recommend starting with a Hero 3+ (used or otherwise) and above, although for the most basic imaging even the entry level Hero at $129 USD should be sufficient. Do be mindful of budgeting for accessories if you do plan on getting an action camera over a standard point-and-shoot.

Lots of camera's with wifi let you steam the video to your phone, like the gopro and the canon 70D

I would like to spend in the range of 250$ But.. I know tech gets expensive, especially cameras and lenses. So I guess I could spend up to 500$ MAX. As I just started buying parts for my new pc anything over that would get me into some heat lol. I'm not good in the camera dept. AT ALL.. That's why I had no clue what to look for. But I do know what I want, I just need to find what fits that best.

Built in wifi meaning it will have to connect via 3g/4g? I'd rather not have to pay a fee for internet usage or have to connect it to my plan or something. I'll have to look into that tho, thanks.

Where I will be at will have NO interent at all, so if I were to go the 3g/4g route I guess I could solve that with just two phones connected via skype or oovoo. This is a pain.

wifi is not 3g/4g it is your phone connecting directly to device by wifi...

wifi on phones does not inherently mean using mobile data...

Well my camera has wifi, I can get a live feed from my camera on my phone via the cameras on wifi netowrk (I join the wifi generated by my camera on my phone and open up the app)

Most cameras with WIFI can do this, A go pro can do this too, where you get a live feed on your phone, would also be good for action stuff and its tiny

Most devices I've seen require that you had data usage to connect to it (hotspot) etc. Same as if you was going to do it off your phone, which that is wifi. That has a built in wifi network allowing you to connect to it. I see what it is now, thank you. I know what wifi is, lol. Just confused on what you said and what the device connected through.
