Intel president Renee James leaving company to pursue external CEO role

Big news coming from Intel

Intel Corporation announced on Thursday that president Renee James informed the chip marker’s board that she will be leaving the company to pursue an outside CEO role.

James is committed to staying at Intel through January to assist with the transition.

James sent a note to Intel employees saying that her decision to leave the company was “difficult.” She wrote, “Intel has been my second family. It is an amazing company that has changed the way people live their lives, and I am proud to have contributed to that in a meaningful way.”

Partial excerpt.

"Over the past 28 years, Renée has contributed immeasurably to Intel," he continued. "On behalf of the Board and management team, we sincerely thank Renée for her tireless efforts toward building the business that we have today, and we fully support her in this decision."

This isn't the only person leaving, it looks like they are doing a bunch of restructuring as well.  And just yesterday they incorporated the McAfee Division into their Intel Security Organization.

Changes in leadership can always be challenging for a company but the market is responding positively to this announcement, and so are my stocks!   It's hard to say how this will affect Intel, it appears to be on good terms as she is staying until January to help with the transition.  We've seen good things from the Microsoft leadership change, what kind of changes will we see in the near future from Intel? Bring on the mainstream 8 cores!

Our collective tech sphincters tend to clench every time a CEO leaves and a new one gets named.

Microsoft and AMD were fortunate to get good, new people. Perhaps Intel will follow suit

Intel's CEO is Brian Kirzanich, and he's done marvelously by all accounts. That said, I hope this woman has success wherever she goes. Heck maybe AMD will pick her up ;)

I VOLUNTEER. Don't give me money Intel, I accept 2 5960K's as my salary :) I know how to sit in a fancy chair, I guess I will get the job :D

Maybe they will get a CEO that also is a LTT and PCMasterRace Member that will develop super CPU's and bring GabeN glory

President and CEO are pretty different in corporate structure. I don't think someone like that will ever make it on the board of directors.

You don't sit in a fancy chair and do nothing, you are usually part of the board of directors, you talk with shareholders (private equilty investors mainly) and view day to day operations.

Gaming is literally close to none of Intel's main focus right now compared to every other market.

Oh yeah, I kinda know what presidents and CEO's do, and from all the things they do, sitting on a chair seems the only thing I know :P but well, it's something?

Didn't knew that Intel don't focus on gaming. It would be nice.

CEO leaving after it was revealed that sales dropped 7.5% and 350mln$ worth of salaries have to go... I wonder if it's just silly coincidence or did they finally get a solid argument to remove her.

When someone as big as a CEO that doesn't mean good for Intel's future. She probably saw something that no one else knows about.

FFS people she is a not a CEO! She's president of one division and she initiated the leave to go pursue her dream to be a CEO elsewhere! God damn! Brian Kirzanich is CEO of Intel and has been wildly successful in spite of the economic downturns in the U.S..
