I do believe so. It's not also about horsepower but smoothness. I remember when I didn't know what vsync did and I never cared for it. My friend mentioned it to me once and I was changed. I'll wait until 144HZ 4K comes out with g-sync :D

 

Edit: BR drive? Really?

It actually brings it quite close to a desktop level experience as the mobile gpu's from nvidia from the 900 series are on average only 25% slower than their desktop counterparts which is amazing for a laptop. And G Sync is always a nice thing to have.

footage in the intro is not tracked to the shaking of the laptop screen.  Actually, whoever edited this can blame Linus for needlessly moving the laptop.

 

damn this thing is huge.  I never understand the point of such a big laptop.  It must be a hassle to carry around, but if it is meant as a "desktop replacement", why not just get a desktop?

Finally something I own!!

 

I just bought the GT72 2QE 1449US

 

My biggest gripe is you cannot upgrade the Hard Drives or Memory without breaking the void warranty stiker. Not to mention the additional 2.5" bay is USELESS unless you do the most hokey mods ever to simply add a drive on a BRAND NEW LAPTOP seen here (not my video) ---> https://youtu.be/NJITXKQmC90?t=9m34s

 

My unit has a bit too much flex in the keyboard for my liking. But other than those two things, I've been happy with it.

 

I haven't been able to find the 75hz driver??? A quick googling came up short. Is it the VGA driver on their website? If anyone on LTT knows where to find it that would be awesome ^_^

Ugh, why did you edit in the video on the laptop screen in the beginning? Just looked absolutely awful.

 

edit: Also, why does the world of laptops have to be such a depressing place? I just want a laptop with a high clock speed dual core and 980m in a reasonable package for less than 2k. Atm, all worthwhile laptops are over 2k :(

Honestly Linus, I don't really care about this laptop, and I'm making the assumption that neither to many of the people here. It's a laptop that costs $3000... Who is going to buy that? It makes sense to do a separate video on mobile G-Sync, and a separate video on Broadwell CPUs, but dedicating your time to a whole review on a laptop that pretty much no one will buy, is just a waste.
