60hz/1440p or 144hz/1080p ?

amr sameh
Go to solution Solved by typographie,

So if the choice was yours, what would you choose??

Myself, I would take 1440p at 60 Hz. I'm happy at 60 FPS, and the hardware requirements to actually reach 144 FPS consistently are nearly impossible to meet in some games. I also have zero interest in ultra-competitive shooters.

If you were someone who played CS:GO primarily, 144 Hz might be beneficial. But for most of the games listed I personally think 1440p at 60 FPS would be a better and more consistent experience.

Ok. This question has been boggling my mind for a while now. I know it's down to preference but I wanna take advice. Which is better, 1080p/144hz or 1440p/60hz? I play games like bf4, witcher3,crysis3,metro last light, tomb raider, GTA V, and others. So if the choice was yours, what would you choose??

It can come down to personal preference. Higher Hz is usually better, but mainly for if you play a lot of FPS games.

I personally love 144hz so I would get the 1080p 144hz one and the refresh rate is really good for FPS games like BF4 and other shooters.

I'd say 1440p, but 144hz is nice for competitive games.

I'm one of the unlucky people who can tell no difference between 60 and 144hz so I'd go for the 1440p 60 personally but its for you to decide.

Best advice is head to a store with display units (no pun intended) and try them out.

Main Rig:-

Ryzen 7 3800X | Asus ROG Strix X570-F Gaming | 16GB Team Group Dark Pro 3600Mhz | Corsair MP600 1TB PCIe Gen 4 | Sapphire 5700 XT Pulse | Corsair H115i Platinum | WD Black 1TB | WD Green 4TB | EVGA SuperNOVA G3 650W | Asus TUF GT501 | Samsung C27HG70 1440p 144hz HDR FreeSync 2 | Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS |

Server:-

Intel NUC running Server 2019 + Synology DSM218+ with 2 x 4TB Toshiba NAS Ready HDDs (RAID0)

for anything that's no a twitch shooter or MOBA - resolution is always more important than refresh rate.

60hz is barely acceptable... but 1080 is really not enough to show you how beautiful those games you are playing really are...

Ive had a good 144hz panel and for CS:GO and LOL it really gave me an advantage - it was like playing with sharpened reflexes, it was too easy... but for non-competitive games - I personally enjoy more pixels.

To me I love my 144hz monitor, so I would say that... but... I have never tried 1440p.

For the kind of games you go, I'd recommend 1440p 60Hz. 144Hz is a big benefit in competitive titles, but in games where you're looking for a good graphical experience, 1440p would be a better shout. Just make sure you have the graphical horsepower to drive it.
