Best i5 processor for the price

Hi all, I am looking to build my first pc for gaming and have decided to go with Intel.

 

I have found the i5 4690k and I am aware only the k models are able to be overclocked, but I am not sure if I will bother overclocking so not sure if I should go with a cheaper i5 model or just use the i5 4690, I am looking to mainly play GTA V!

 

Any help is greatly appreciated!

4690k Even if you are not overclocking the fast that its speeds are high means you wount have to and it plays GTA V great on my small pc. Also it will last longer because it already has better clock speeds then other i5, this is good encase you need extra power. If you bought a slower cpu you'd need to get into overclocking if you needed more juice.

The 4690K has exactly the same clock speeds as the 4690.

An Intel Core i5-4460 will be already more than enough for the latest and future games. Since also you wont bother to OC then I would suggest going on this path.

The 4460 or 4590 is gonna be the best for the price if you aren't gonna overclock. Otherwise the 4690K or even the 4790K

The 4690K has exactly the same clock speeds as the 4690.

Wasn't taking about the 4690k vs the 4690. I know they are the same just one is unlocked. I was talking about the lower i5.

I think the i5-4590 is best bang for your buck gaming CPU out there. If you have some extra money for the Z97 board and a Hyper 212 EVO then the 4690k would be pretty nice. Overclocking is super easy these days and no one should be scared of it, especially if you play highly CPU bound games like Arma 3 or the Total War series. Read this guide, overclocking modern Intel CPUs is easy.

I myself bought a locked CPU with hyperthreading on a guess that core count will become more important sooner or later with the consoles being octacores and with most games I like to play being console ports.
