EVGA Launches the GTX 980 Ti Classified for only $700

EVGA unveiled the GeForce GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ graphics card (model: 06G-P4-4998). Positioned a notch below the GTX 980 Ti Classified Kingpin Edition, and one above the GTX 980 Ti Hybrid, the card will be EVGA's fastest GTX 980 Ti, until the Classified Kingpin Edition starts selling. It offers factory overclocked speeds of 1190 MHz core, 1291 MHz GPU Boost, and an untouched 7.00 GHz memory; compared to reference clocks of 1000 MHz core and 1076 MHz GPU Boost.

The card features EVGA's biggest and tallest ACX 2.0+ air-cooling solution, which is 2 slots thick, but a good inch and a half taller than the reference card. It features a large dual fin-stack heatsink that's ventilated by a pair of large fans. The PCB features a 14+3 phase VRM that draws power from a pair of 8-pin PCIe power connectors. The card comes with a pre-installed back-plate. Display outputs include three DisplayPort 1.2 and one each of HDMI 2.0 and dual-link DVI connectors. Other features include dual-BIOS and EVGA EV-Bot module support. Available now, the EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Ti Classified ACX 2.0+ is priced at US $700.

This is pretty crazy right here, a Classified variant of the 980 Ti for only $50 more than reference. I was originally planning on getting an ACX SC + w/ Backplate for $680 but it obviously makes no sense now with a Classified for $700. I saw this price listed on Amazon.com and couldn't believe it was priced this low. Thought it was an error considering the 980 Classified costed way more than $50 over the reference version ($130 more to be exact). Looks like EVGA is trying to take back some AIB market share here competing with the ASUS 980 Ti STRIX. Cannot wait to see some reviews of this card, hope Luke gets a hold of one of these soon. These were listed today and are already out of stock. It's going to be hard to grab one of these at $700.

unless you got it used like me

 

@Hunter7263 the kingpin has the exact same PCB as the classified, but with a few added things like voltage dipswitches. (Things that really dont do anything if you know what you're doing)

that is not a reference pcb, its far wider and you will find that it likely has far more robust power delivery

Like I said I could be wrong I just didn't see anything about improvements on the pcb.

all we see is the backplate and under that and under the cooler it is likely far different

It features a 14+3 Power Phase design, Dual 8-pin power, along with a Dual BIOS. It's not a reference PCB. It also supports EVBOT.

Whoa there...hold your horses. Based on stock boost clocks yes, it will be faster for the simple reason that it boosts much higher. 

 

I'd like to see these two heavily overclocked against eachother.

The 980 (non ti) Classified is $800 here in Canada. I bet you the ti Classified will sell at or close to $1000 here.

the titan x and 980ti are incredibly close when not overclocked. look at j2c 980ti hybrid, it beats it, now this can probably overclock higher than the hybrid card
