Deciding between 2 motherboards

Hello!

 

I'll be building x99 setup and I am deciding between 2 motherboards. At my store their price is the same for both mobos.

 

1. MSI X99S SLI PLUS

2. MSI X99A SLI PLUS USB3.1

 

So which one is better / with which one I'll be more "future proof"?

 

I know that you can't make completly future proof computer so please no comment about this. :)

I would get the 3.1 usb version as it has compatible for even faster usb drives that is the only difference.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

That's what I thought. But I'm not sure what A and S stands for

Well obviously if price isn't a concern go with the 3.1 I'd like to think future proofing for the next 2-3 years if you buy the best stuff

The new reversible USB 3.1 type-C which looks good i think better can go with that.

According to MSi's website:

  • The "A" is the indicator for the new board that has USB 3.1 support
  • The "S" is for the older board that does not have the USB upgrade
  • Both have 100% identical specifications, aside from the USB 3.1 difference.
