Project Space Saver - a custom wooden scratch build

Albert1998

I will fill that cage up with SSD's. But if there ever has to be an 2.5 HDD in there, I left some space for anti vibrating rubber.

Ohhh... makes sense... Nice job so far

Well eh, I don't have a lot of tools here. But with a little bit of creativity you can mangage to do a lot with simple tools.

The products from Be Quiet! came in today. A big thanks for sponsoring me! Already tested the fans, and I could not believe how silent they were! Also ordered a couple of SSD's.

A small update today. My uncle finished the aluminium part which holds the rear I/O plate. It looks amazing and fits perfectly! A realy big thanks. There is one more part he will make, but that will be done in two weeks or so. Also mounted all the magnets to hold the side panels. Also, the new motherboard arrived, it is the latest top notch Matx MB from Medion

Be Quiet! fans definitely are insanely quiet

I had my PC on a test bench, and i had to look to make sure my fans were spinning. They're dead silent

The case itself is almost done. I put a lot of work in the exterior the past few days. The power button system is also almost done. Only have to make the actual button. Tomorrow I will finish the case, and clean it so I can put a clear coat on it. It should look realy good after that. Work on the custom desk should start this week as well.

I searched for email adresses, but the only ones I can find are customer service etc. I did send an email to pcdiy ASUS.

I say 200 ? Or maybe more ;p

Materials for the case and the PCI-E riser (which still has to arrive): just shy of 300 euros

Aqua Computer, PSU and SSD's: 450 euros

Other stuff (tools etc.): 150 euros

Really, 300 euros for the materials for that case? Mine was about 50. Made of MDF though. Is real wood really that expensive?

I cannot be held responsible for any bad advice given.

I've no idea why the world is afraid of 3D-printed guns when clearly 3D-printed crossbows would be more practical for now.

My rig: The StealthRay. Plans for a newer, better version of its mufflers are already being made.

It wasn't just wood. Also stocked up on acrylic panels and bought enough wood to (almost) make a second one (I couldn't get any smaller sheets). The super strong neodyium magnets I use also are not cheap. On top of that, all the nuts and bolts are made of stainless steel.

I feel like that's pretty reasonable for one-off production

edit: things are really looking great!!

Quick update. I finished the power button and the magnet-mounting system is done. Also sanded the case down and cleaned it so I can start with the clear coat of paint tomorrow to make shure the case stays as beautifull as it is right now.
