What laptop would you recommend? (For $900)

Hey there,

I'd like to buy a laptop for myself - currently only have a workstation/PC -, as I work as a designer and would like to be able to work even when I'm not at home, so my preference would be a laptop that's easy to work on whether I'm working with Photoshop, or Illustrator (or both) therefore I'm thinking in about 8 gigs of ram, i5 or i7 cpu, 17 inches etc. I started to look around today, and seen some prices already - I believe the price frame I have for this purchase is reasonable.

I'd be happy to see some recommendations of laptops from the best community on the Earth. :)

Thanks in advance guys.

Not too sure about specific laptops, but if youre a designer, those types of programs usually are more CPU orientated, so try get an i7 :)

A decent amount of RAM wouldnt hurt either.

For $900 I don't think you can get a brand new laptop with IPS screen and a reasonable GPU.

As an example the Lenovo Y50-70 cheapest model (59440646) costs $989.00 + tax

Sure you can get Dell Inspiron 7000 series and have a 1920x1080 Screen but you would be stuck in a dual core CPU (unless you get more expensive model) and intel onboard graphics

If you are willing to get a pre-owned or refurbished gaming laptop (IMO it is as good as new), then there is a really good deal ATM.

The Asus G751JM-BHI7T25 from cowboom (pre-owned satisfactory condition) sells for $644.99 + TAX ($664.99 - $20 coupon for new members) and is the best bang for the back in terms of gaming and productivity related work.

-It has Intel Core i7 4720HQ up to 3.6Ghz Haswell 4C/8T

-NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M (it is a GM207 Haswell Chip which is also a rebrand of GTX 960M. It has roughly the same performance as GTX 750 Ti Desktop GPU)

-17.3" 1920x1080 IPS Touch screen (can be overclocked to 100Hz easily) and maybe potentially G-Sync Hack.

-Wireless AC WiFi

-it has 2 empty Free RAM slot that you can later add more RAM if you want.

-it also has thunderbolt so in case in the future you want to add an external Desktop Graphics card, you just get an external enclosure like AKiTiO Thunder2 + power supply + GPU (like GTX 970) and.
