New resolution

I made a custom resolution of 3200x1800. Its not 4k but in crysis 3 I get 60fps around in 4k max settings. In 3200x1200 and fxaa I get 90-100fps. Its so close to me that it looks like 4k. I wonder what resolution 3200x1200 is. Is it like in between 2k and 4k? or closer to 4k then 2k?

3200x1800 isn't really a new resolution, some manufactures have laptops with that resolution by default and call it 3k, the 14" Razer Blade had a 3200x1800 display, it's just essentially double 1600×900 (which is 16:9)

3200x1800 is not a new resolution, it's also closer to 4k than it is to 2k.

Is this for real? You need to know what NAME your custom resolution is entitled to if you put the letter "K" at the end of it?

 

From now on, noone is allowed to use the NAMES of resolutions. Everyone has to spell out the resolution itself, because you people clearly cant handle LABELS.

 

For example, i have a 20" CRT with a resolution 2048x1536. And a 15" laptop with a resolution of 1366x768.

You guys are missing my point. For example 2160x1440 is 1440p or 2k. 3200x1200 is greater then 1440p but lower then 4k.

'K' isn't a measurement. There is 4K and the odd branding of '5k' but nothing else.

People like adding 'p' on things too even though it isn't a measurement either. '1440p' is mainly used to refer to 2560x1440 and not 2160x1440 (may be a typo), but it doesn't mean anything if you just give a vertical height in pixels. 

I could have a monitor that is 400x1440 and call it '1440p' because it has 1440 vertical pixels.

Using 'K' is even more watered down. It doesn't tell you anything much. The horizontal pixels divided by 1000 and rounded to the nearest whole number? 

All these shorthand names are branding, nothing more.

1080p is 2K.

2K is a term in the film industry for a number of resolutions (yes it contradicts what i previously said, but I'm just referring to consumer displays and not filming (where 4k means different things)

Sure. I'm just confused how you can compare the resolution you are using to the non-specific '2k'. The easiest way of doing a measurement is to get the number of pixels overall in consumer 4k(3840×2160 = 8294400) and divide it by your current resolution (3200x1200 = 3840000) = 2.16. So your resolution is roughly half of what you call 4k.
You then may want to compare it to 1920x1080 (2073600 pixels) which gets you  1.85; which means it is roughly half of your resolution.
 
This sticks 3200x1200 just about in the middle of 4k and 1080p in terms of pixel count.

I'm not talking about what standards bodies have published officially, I just mean the casual use of the convention. Just like 5120x2880 is sold as "5K" by Apple, Dell, and HP, but I don't see 5K anywhere in the DCI Specification. In casual usage the terms are merely categories. 3840x2160, 4096x2160, 4096x2304, these are all 4K resolutions. 1920x1080 and 2048x1080 are both 2K resolutions. It's only a shorthand for the "class" of resolution, nothing more.

I did, and it didn't answer what I was asking because they didn't understand my question. This happened either because I worded it wrong or they read it wrong. I invite you only to make useful comments in my thread, otherwise you sir are indeed trolling.
