A8-7650K vs A10-7850K

I'm going to make an upgrade from my A6-5400K, and I'm wondering whether I should upgrade to an A8 or an A10. I don't see much of a difference in specs, so I want to know what you think. I'm not planning to use a gpu with the APU. The most intensive game I play is CS:GO.

A10 if using iGPU.

If you can afford it, go for an A10 7870k.

Also, what speed is your RAM? do you have 2133 or 2400 MHz RAM, if not, that is THE most important thing to get.

8 gigs of ddr3-1600

What chipset is your motherboard? is it FM2 or FM2+

FM2+

Then get the best you can afford. 7870k is the best as the heat spreader is soldered on which allows for better temps and better overclock if you are interested in that. 7850k performs the same with a little overclock (mine is at 4.4GHz) everyone should at least be able to get at least 4.2 GHz

Get some higher speed RAM. That really helps

NEVER GIVE UP. NEVER STOP LEARNING. DONT LET THE PAST HURT YOU. YOU CAN DOOOOO IT

you need faster RAM. The difference between 1600 and 2400 MHz in terms of FPS in games is close to 15 - 20 FPS.... It can mean dropping below 30 FPS (unplayable laggy and stuttery) to staying above 30 FPS (console/ movie quality)

I just make my system faster by downloading more ram and deleting large files, like system 32.

Thanks! I'll look into it.

What type of FM2+ board do you have? A78 or A88X?

Quite honestly just throw a low end GPU like a 750Ti or 260x in there.  You'll get way more performance per dollar than spending ~$80-100 on an A8/A10.

If you're committed to upgrading the APU, then the only thing you should be looking at is the 7870K.

Right, ufortunately you do not have much overclocking headroom, but atleast your motherboard will be able to power the Kaveri APU.

Remember to upgrade your motherboards bios to the latest version, as some FM2+ mothersboards need an bios update for Kaveri to workm I do reccomend getting a A88X board for maximum overclocking potential but the A78M should atleast let you bump up the GPU frequency, which is THE most important part to OC.

If you can raise the GPU frequency from 720/866 MHZ on the 7850k/7870k respectively, up to around 1050MHZ, then you further increase your FPS by 7-12 FPS.

These may seem like small things... but adding it up... Faster ram + higher GPU clock and suddenly you increased your FPS by 20-30 FPS. Which is a lot.
