Fan Painting help?

doctorraichu

Hi, I'm not too experienced with computers, but I have a can of blue plastic paint to paint my fans with. I want to know the optimal way to paint my case fans and cpu fan. Any help is appreciated!

Ideally it's best to not paint fans and buy the ones in the correct color of you can but if you want to paint them it can be done. Just be sure to apply very light even coats to the fan blades to not unbalance it too much.

First you want to take apart the fan if you can usually there is a plastic clip behind the sticker holding it in place, don't lose it since you will need it for reassembly. If you can't take the fan apart be sure to mask the wires PCB and gap to prevent paint from getting into the rotor. It's not a bad idea to lightly scuff the surfaces with some fine grit sandpaper or scotch brute to promote better adhesion before applying it to the fan.
