4690K: Stick with 4.5GHz @ 1.22, or try for 4.6-4.8 at a higher voltage?

Should I stick with my current overclock of 4.5GHz @ 1.22V (never going above 60c under full load), or should I aim for a higher clock of 4.6-4.8, since I have such a big headroom when it comes to temps? My attempt at 4.6 failed @ 1.25V, so I would have to go higher than that.

I'd try going higher. 60°C leaves headroom. You can go safely up to 80, but not higher.

You wouldn't even notice it. It's a lot more heat for very little performance gain. Is it for gaming?

Yes, gaming only.

Then a solid OC at 4.5 GHz is perfect. Especially if you're air cooling, then I would go to 4.0 GHz around 1.1v or something to save on heat. I would look for gaming benchmarks to see if that 500 MHz even makes a difference.

I'm using the Cooler Master Seidon 120XL closed waterloop cooler. I think I'm going to stick with the 4.5GHz clock, as temperatures never go above 60c anyway. Thanks :)

probably for the best. in gaming there's very little benefit to oc'ing the cpu anyway. you got yourself a nice overclock btw :)
