GPU

ConorVincent

is there is huge different between

MSI 2 GB GTX 960

and

MSI NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB

if i buy the 970 i will go over my budget but if there is a huge different in performance and cooling than the 960 then i will go over.

i will be using my pc for gaming, CAD and music production where i could be using two screens or more.

i also want to more or less max out next gen games so any advice will be great, thanks.

The 970 is a huge step up from the 960. You won't be maxing games out on the 960 at 60fps because of the 2GB VRAM and the card isn't that quick. 970 Will be able to max stuff out within it's realm of 3.5GB VRAM at around 60fps, so it's really worth going over budget for as long as it doesn't mean you have to downgrade the rest of your build

LTT's fastest Valley 970, slowest Valley Basic and Extreme HD scores

Desktop || CPU - i5 4690k || Motherboard - ASUS Gryphon Z97 || RAM - 16GB Kingston HyperX 1866MHz || GPU - Gigabyte G1 GTX 970 *Cough* 3.5GB || Case - Fractal Design Define R5 || HDD - Seagate Barracuda 160GB || PSU - Corsair AX760

Yes, it is a huge difference, but it depends on what games you're playing if it's worth it.

The 970 is loads better. 2GB of VRAM is nowhere near enough for 1080p+

You coud get a R9 380 and still be in budget

GTX 960<R9 380< 970

idk if you need nvidia though

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

thanks for the feedback, so if i decided to not go over then i could go for the r9 380 and be in budget and if i am correct then it will give me the same GPU performance as the GTX 970
