How to keep camera safe

I go out tubing and water skiing with friends fairly often and would like to take some pictures or video with my dslr. I can not come up with a way to ensure the camera is safe in the boat while going over waves and bouncing around. Any ideas?

We already use multiple go pros but would like something a bit better.

There are water proof casings you can get for dslrs, but they are extremely expensive, frankly its the only thing I would really trust in that kinda situation over any home made solution.

The camera I am willing to take out (Canon T5) is cheaper than buying a water proof case. So I think that would probably be a bad idea in my case but maybe in the future if I decide to take out a better camera that will be the best solution.

DIY it up, plastic bags are awsome if you dont want to spent a lot of moey, but i would really not trust a DSLR in a plastic bag under water but above its probably fine, also if you destry your DSLR using my idea, this post dosent exist :P

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

They're usually more expensive then the camera themselves :(

I remember seeing something about a waterproof camera bag on FilmRiot, I'll see if I can find it.
