Router really hot

Subduck

My router is getting really hot and it is in a hot room. Cant move it because the network port it there. Should i made a DIY cooling system for it or does temperature not make a difference to performance?

kick it.

follow topic.

kick it again.

put a fan near it, or make sure it isnt touching anything for decent air flow.

if it heats up it might drop your connections, then you'll have to reset. just leave it open and see if it drops you, if not leave it be. but kick it occasionally. lightly though.

We can't Benchmark like we used to, but we have our ways. One trick is to shove more GPUs in your computer. Like the time I needed to NV-Link, because I needed a higher HeavenBench score, so I did an SLI, which is what they called NV-Link back in the day. So, I decided to put two GPUs in my computer, which was the style at the time. Now, to add another GPU to your computer, costs a new PSU. Now in those days PSUs said OCZ on them, "Gimme 750W OCZs for an SLI" you'd say. Now where were we? Oh yeah, the important thing was that I had two GPUs in my rig, which was the style at the time! They didn't have RGB PSUs at the time, because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big green ones.

Temps can make a difference,.. if it gets too hot it can get FLAKY AS FUCK (some models, not all)

I've put fans on Routers before,... it's pretty common actually.

/I cut the roof out with a dremel tool and strapped a fan on it.

/I've seen worse :P

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

It shouldn't really be too much of a problem (My WRT1900AC runs very hot but the firmware doesn't ramp up the fans until it's super hot). But if you just want to have peace of mind knowing your router is cool, you could just put a fan next to the vents.

If you are able to feel the heat from the outside, the chip is probably getting pretty toasty, and I don't know if routers have a thermal cut off where they turn off if they get too warm, so to be safe, just put a table fan beside it or something

Really depends on the model here, but in general if you can hold it comfortably for an extended period of time you should be ok.
