Installing Windows 8.1 from an external hardrive onto ssd in new build

Hi there

I am building my first PC from scratch and to save some money i downloaded a copy of windows 8.1 from dream spark through my university. This copy is sitting on my external hard drive and i would like to install it onto my ssd in my new build so that the system boots the OS from the ssd, how do i go about doing this? Thankyou for the support.

so you need to put the iso on a device in a bootable way. I would suggest using the windows media creation tool which can be found here.

This tool gives you the option to write it to a USB stick. Or you can burn the ISO to a disk using windows.

i installed 8.1 off of usb and i can't connect to the internet.  it is saying my network driver isn't up to date but i can't find the driver anywhere. 

 

Anyone have any advice? 

 

I tried wiping my hard drive and reinstalling 8.1 but i had the same issue
