3000$ X99 Build, Help?

Okay so basically, I'm planning out my new build, and I have a budget of 3k $

is it going to be enough for an X99 build?

Question : will skylake use the 2011-v3 chipset?

Monitor/Peripherals and the OS are not included

I live in the United Arab Emirates (google it) and the prices are a bit higher here when it comes to PC parts and such.

I currently use an

i5 3570k

GTX 970 4G

600 w PSU from gigabyte

and 32 gigs of DDR3 Ram

anything should I salvage from my old build?

Early 2020 Build : Intel i7 8700k // MSI Krait Z370 // Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Aorus 5700 XT // NZXT H500

Early 2019 Build : Ryzen 2600X // Asus Tuff X470 // G.Skill Trident Z RGB 8x2 16GB // MSI RTX 2070 // NZXT H500

Late 2017 Build : Intel i7 8700k // Asus Prime Z370-A // G.Skill Trident Z 8x2 16GB // EVGA GTX 1080 Ti  // NZXT S320 Elite

Late 2015 Build : Intel i7 6700k // Asus Maximus VI Gene Z170 //  Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Gigabyte GTX 970 // Corsair Air 240

Dont build a new system, please, dont.

If anything, upgrade to Z97 and throw in another 970 and THATS IT.

And maybe new PSU.

Why do you need to upgrade?  That system is pretty good the way it is, maybe get a better mobo/CPU, second GPU and that is all :)

What kind of stuff do you do on your computer?

I actually couldn't underclock my 5 year old GPU to make it as slow as a next-gen console.

Mate, I am going to cry if you spend $3000 on a new computer when you already have a system as good as that!

Come on guys, he clearly wants a new toy to play around with  :)

Now considering I don't know exactly how different the prices are around there, I'd say the best bang for your buck would be a z97 build with a 4790k with a good AIO water cooler and 2 980ti. It's just my guess though... Could you give us a web site or something that we can use as reference?

Oh and about your ram, could you tell us what frequency they run at?

I want to buy a new system just for the sake of buying a new system, I know nothing is wrong with mine at the moment, but I'll have it a secondary PC if anyone comes to my house and wants to play games and such, but for my system, I want a beefy PC that can run anything maxed out on all settings, while staying 60 FPS

I also want to get an X99 board because its new, and why not? I have the money for it.

can it possibly be an X99 board?

I'm going to use this website : http://uae.dtcae.com/ to buy the parts from,, although they still don't sell the 5930k I will try to look for it in stores in here, if no luck, I will order it from amazon or something

my ram currently runs @ 1600 Mhz, but its a 2400 Mhz ram, its limited by my motherboard that I have right now which is a Gigabyte-DS3H-H77

Edit : the store sells the 5930k

I will be starting a youtube channel, so I'll need it to render 10-15 minute footage in 10 minutes or less, I also will be doing heavy gaming, triple A title games will be played, a lot of streaming too, and photo editing

If that's the case, then an X99 board (I'm not so familar with them), 5820K (or 5930K if you plan to run 3-way SLI) and a GTX 980 Ti (make sure it has a custom PCB). That would be an absolute monster rig.

EDIT: However, $3000 is still a lot to spend on a PC. It won't be as quick, but a 4790K would still be pretty damn good at rendering videos. Not to mention that the motherboard and RAM will be cheaper (by a fair margin).

The way I like to see it is: Does your source of income ABSOLUTELY depend on your PC and your wellbeing is dependant on the performance of said PC? Go X99. Otherwise, go Z97.

You see, I'm an enthusiast, and I really want to build on the X99 chipset, and I want DDR4 and all of that goodness, money is not a problem for me at all, I can go over my budget if needed too.

Broadwell-E is supposedly Q1 2016 and will use the current X99 LGA2011-3 platform. Skylake-E is supposedly Q3 2016 and that might use a different platform altogether.

Well the 2011-3 platform has the stronger cpu lineup i.e 6 and 8 core.

The upcoming Skylake will be similar to current Devil's canyon i.e 4 core.

If you want an enthusiast build then stick with 2011-3

Sorry I'm late to the party  :P . The build mentioned above is what I had in mind but since you said the prices there are a bit higher, I gave priority to the massive GPU's (I guess I'm a bit biased xD ) and hence lowered from X99 to z97 to keep within your budget (I also asked about the RAM to see if it was worth salvaging for a z97 build). If you go for the above build you'll have a beast system and it is very unlikely that skylake will have better performance since it's going replace the "mainstream" platform while x99 is theiur "enthusiast" grade hardware to begin with. Have fun with your new PC  :)
