New computer WONT install any program without freezing

Go to solution Solved by BigBird05,

Ok so i might of answered my own question i started looking around the motherboard manual and noticed that two of my sata 6 gig connectors are ASMedia and the others are just regular intel sata 6 gig connectors. I originally had my OS drive plugged into the regular sata 6 gig so i decided ill try the ASMedia ones and what do you know, IT WORKED!!! Everything installs fine now and runs like a dream, i still have no idea why the other ones dont like to work with the OS but o well. Hope this helps someone out that runs into the same problem as me.

So ive been building my own computers for a number of year but after building my new computer i installed windows 8.1 64bit and everything was going fine untill i tried to install my intel lan driver. The driver install hung and the computer froze and all i could do was hard restart it, so i did and tried again and still the same thing happens. I decided to just skip that for the time being and decided to install my sound card drivers and the same thing happened! so moving on again i tried my gpu drivers and what do you know the same freaking thing! After a little more trial and error i gave up and did a fresh install of windows just to make sure the first one didnt mess up some how. After windows was done installing again i tried everything over and it still doesnt work. For the life of me i have no idea what is going on and everything i have tried has got me no where. Everything else on the computer works just fine for the few things that i could get installed like google chrome. I can get on youtube and watch videos i can do everything online and its just fine. I even got prime 95 installed and ran it for a good 45 mins and it did just fine the heats were good and nothing froze. So any input would be awesome im at a loss here thanks. O and this is the second set of memory ive had in it since i thought the first set might of been the problem.

The Computer specs are as follows,

CPU - Core i7 4790k

Motherboard - Asus Z97 Pro WI-FI ac

Memory - 16gb Klevv 2133

Drive - SSD crucial m4

GPU - XFX r9 295x2

PSU - Corsair AX1200i

and a few other odds and ends.

If the NATIVE Intel Sata3 ports are fucked,.. RMA it like..NOW.

If their not bad, maybe it was a dirver bug, uninstall & reinstall the drivers (from the website, not the cd)

They are indeed WAY better performing ports... when they work.

Intel port performance VS Asmedia performance, hands down Intel walks away with it... (When ports are not having issues)

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Im not sure if the Sata 6gig ports were bad or good, but I think they are good and it is just a problem with the drivers considering everything that was already installed ran fine it just wouldnt install anything else, it seemed like mainly drivers is what it had problems with. Before I switched the ports to the Asmedia ones i did go to the ASUS website and tried a few different drivers and neither seemed to help the problem so maybe it is the ports, ive never had this problem before, usually sata ports just kind of work from my experience so i dont know. Ill have to check about possibly doing an RMA, I might fiddle with it some more first, but thanks for the imput bud, its much appreciated.
