Is your brain conflicted or confused? Why are you looking for laptops that have 12 or 16 GIGS of ram? 

put an extra you can try for a 970m

About how thick are you looking for

Not to thick where it would be hard to cary it around in a backpack with other things, but not to thin to where it has a hard time cooling it self.

Yes, but as your computer gets older the amount of background programs build up (I have a problem with not keeping my background programs under control), so you will need more ram.

Background programs that use up noticable RAM amounts are viruses. And I use Linux most of the time, so not a problem.

Check out the MSI GE62 Apache with the 965M. They're quite good I heard. If you need an SSD, you can get a cheap one and then slap it in the system, clone the drive over and then format the HDD.
