Matte Black Acrylic from TAP Plastics?

handymanshandle

So I'm considering making an AiO with the motherboard of my Samsung 3 series laptop (FS1r2)

I plan on buying an A10 5750M (it currently has an A8 4500M), Replacement Fan (The current one only seems to spin up at start up then stop afterwards not sure if there could be something else wrong), Eventually a 250GB 850 Evo, a replacement screen (the current one is broken), and an iMac Base/Stand with hinge

I already have 8GB of RAM. However I can only seem to find the kind of acrylic I want from them. My question is is TAP legitimate or is there a better place to get that kind of plastic [Matte Black Acrylic Sheets in pre-cut sizes by order]?

Also I'd be ordering from the online site since they seem to only have physical stores in the West Coast.

Acrylic is acrylic there isn't much to screw up with it, you can try Amazon to get matte black acrylic.

Also I assume you are zip tying a AIO cooler onto the motherboard to water cool it?

That would be sort of interesting to water cool laptop hardware, though what I meant by AiO was All in One Desktop, shame neither my PGA946b or FS1r2 mobos have anything with an unlocked multiplier, though I guess that would eliminate thermal throttling that the stock Samsung or HP heatsink and fan would cause. Another hard part would be getting power to the cooler unless it had a 3 pin connector [Not sure if the laptop would be able to provide enough power.] (since it would look like that the fan header on the Samsung laptop is a regular 3 pin fan header).

What I wanted the acrylic for was the exterior casing of an AiO desktop from laptop parts and I also want to keep some of its portability traits by having some way of physically connecting and disconnecting the battery with out having to create like some sort of switch.

Maybe if I USB 2 can carry enough power to power an H60 and by being USB powered it would would only turn on when the laptop is on. (Or if I need more but not the full amount of power that two USB 2 ports carry I could use like a resistor.)

Ah I thought you were trying to watercool a laptop to make it into a desktop type system.

For the acrylic if you make a box with the proper vent cutouts for the motherboard, hard drive and fans I think it would be possible to mount onto a back of a monitor. I'd probably make the box mount via the VESA holes on the monitor or double stick it in place.

I'll probably end up using the regular screen (except a replacement.)

I wasn't sure if TAP Plastics was reliable (Not a scam) or if I'd be better off getting from another vendor of matte black acrylic.

Because I want to make it look OEM I'll probably buy a few stickers from Mod sticker.

Overall hard to say but as long as they make good plastics then no problems.

If it's nice and low profile on the back of a screen I think it would fit in pretty good.

True, since 3M is based in my state, I sort wished they sold cut to order acrylic like the other site (considering 3M does a slew of stuff.).

Acrylic isn't too bad as long as you have a jigsaw and the right blades mainly the right blades since you can cut plexi on a variety of tools.

Got to agree 3M has the best stuff.
