Is it possible to upgrade the cpu on a NUC

I got the 2820 nuc to turn my tv smart. However, it has trouble playing normal videos at 1080p. I look and see that the cpu is maxed out at 100% while watching videos. Could i upgrade the cpu to something more beefy than the celeron? I can't find any information about the socket or anybody trying to do this.

most likely not. Even if you solder on a new cpu that may be incompatible. Bios and motherboard may not except it.

No not really. However video playback shouldn't be maxing out your CPU, use proper hardware acceleration and it'll use the GPU instead. Celeron GPU can handle hardware-decoded video playback fine (even at 4K) but not CPU software decoding.

maybe ram issue, or just has bad internet connection.

It's not a ram issue because I used two different sticks (4 and 8gb). Internet connection is fine. It works fine on youtube at 720p, but when I crank Linus (praise be unto him) up to 1080p it stutters. Same thing happens when I go onto HBOGo.

Aren't the CPUs in NUCs soldered to the board? oO

Since you already have the hardware, maybe try running a different browser. Internet Explorer in Full Screen mode (Modern App) may work better.

try thishttps://www.google.com/get/videoqualityreport/

try a thermal paste change.

We are giving suggestions but it seems like you don't care. Why did you make this post then?
