Need help picking a new TV

That's quite expensive and kinda overkill.

I picked up a Sony KDL-40R470B for $400 CAD.

My parents want to buy a TV for our guest bedroom. Their budget is $530 CAD (=$600 after tax). It should be around 40-46 inches and at least 1080p. It doesn't need to be a smart TV because we can buy a Chromecast or something similar for Netflix, etc. I want good picture quality because we may end up using them for ourselves in the future. What would you guys recommend?

i5-4690K@4.5 GHz // Asus Z87-Pro // HyperX Fury 8GB DDR3-1600 // Crucial BX100 250GB // Sapphire Nitro R9 390 // EVGA SuperNOVA 750W G2 // Fractal Design Define S // be quiet! Pure Rock & Pure Wings 2 // BenQ XL2730Z // Corsair Vengeance K70 // Logitech G403 Wireless // Sennheiser HD 598 SE

It was over your budget AND in US funds (Meaning that it's even more expensive once converted to CAD). Must be annoying when people don't bother to read your full post.

BTW, the TV you did pick up? How is it? Can you post a basic review of what you think of it so far?

For Sale: Meraki Bundle

The TV is for a rental apartment so I didn't have much time to try it out yet. I did watch an episode of something on Netflix and I thought it looked good, but then again I'm not a TV expert. I'll try to put a short review together.  :)

Sweet :)

TV's are so hard to compare, because the "specs" only tell half the story. It's hard to "quantify" straight up good picture quality. You can sometimes buy a $3000 TV that looks just as good as a $700 TV.
