H440 case mod

Midnitewarrior4

So I want some better airflow in my h440. My plan is to cut a design out of the front panel and then get a red colored dust filter to put behind it where the stock one usually is.

OK my thing is the design I really don't know what to go for here. One of my options I'd to cut a 24cm long by 12cm wide rectangle out of the middle of the panel and use some of that plastic rad grill or whatever it is. If you go on performance pcs you will most likely see it. And put that over the hole so there would be a red/black fan grill allowing air to the middle fan and half to the top and bottom.

So for my option of cutting a design out of the front panel does anyone have any design ideas ?

I think that would be pretty nice, I've seen others do triple 360mm which does seem to fit the height of the case very well. For cutting the panel I'd probably recommend using a Dremel or rotary tool using a fine tooth blade or reinforced cutting disc, however the cutting disc can melt or gum up so it will need clearing every so often.

Be sure to mask all the front panel and mark out your cuts, and cut away from the line and file towards it after using a metal file.

Ya I got an old Drexel in the garage and my dad just ought a brand new one just to use it once so I might go get that one. Alhough not sure if I'm going to do it yet. Would this make my setup louder ? Or would it make it quiter since the fans aren't working as hard ?

It might be slightly louder if you are in front of the PC since it's now an open panel, but as long as you have fairly silent fans ad components it shouldn't have that great of an effect.

I'm using the stock h440 fans. The only thing that I can really hear on idle is the r/w head on my hdd which is surprisingly loud

It's not mine unfortunately :P But i've been planning an h440 build. From the looks of it seems like he has placed the fans infront of the panel rather than behind if that makes sense :P

Yea, thinking of painting it with white accents, changing the acrylic nzxt panel to a custom one, watercooling it, modding the front and the top, maybe buying a higher quality side window from mnpctech (only if the stock one sucks). The thing is I don't think I have any tools to cut the panels so I will probs have to ask my neighbour who is a builder to cut it for me lol :P

ya the side window sucks, mines already scratched up just from wiping it with a dusting cloth and and scratches if you just move your finger on it

Hoping to find someone / a tutorial to pop the rivets on the case, I don't really want to attack it with the dremel ...

Rivets are pretty easy to remove with a 1/8" drill bit to drill them out, not very difficult:

Yup, I drilled them :D they just fell out afterwards

why do you need to remove the rivets ?

to remore drive cage ( and maybe psu cover )

It's done, and it looks sexy af, will post a modlog

Will also add a glass window, maybe optimise airflow and paint the case

In person it looks glorious, completely clear :D

Even better is that I know have a AF 140 at the back and I have re done the screws to make it look better

the only thing left would be dual 360mm rads and a hard line loop, but that will only happen if money starts raining from the sky :P

also, if you could give some input :

I need to smooth out the edges on my panel, don't know if I should try U channel or if you know of a way to make it smooth without using it ( I have vinyl wrap I could use but then the rough edges would peak through )

soooo i know im a little late (* a few years late LOL) but im praying that you still use the forum regularly and can help me im wondering how you replaced the side panel of your nzxt h440? is there a website that i can order it from? did you use the original side panel mounting hardware to mount the tempered glass?  i love the case but that damn acrylic side panel that blocks off half of the inside of the case is a deal breaker for me and your came out really clean thanks for any help you might be able to provide
