Opinions on Mined GPUs for sale?

I've made a post about whether I should buy a used Sapphire Dual-X 7950 3GB from my friend. But I forgot what you guys have said.

Now my question is, is it worth buying one for £70?, He has 5 of them. He has used them for a month and a week. But now has decided to stop and stop sell them.

I avoid them. Not a fan of something used hard and probably overheated.

Tell him to show you stability tests with the card. Unigine Valley/Heaven and 3DMark are a fine place to start. Monitor temps and go from there. I would definitely buy one or two myself.

For that cheap, I would buy one. I would probably upgrade within a year however, because it would have a very short lifespan.

Two have died, four still going strong (well...working fine as per normal,..but packed away right now)

If it was all had died, I'd warn you..

But I've had less die than not...

 

That doesnt mean that one GPU miner person didn't run one for months longer than another.. it really is LUCK.

If he really has been mining for only 5 weeks, I wouldn't be too worried about it, unlikely it significantly reduced the lifespan of the card.

when i was on the red team i bought an MSI R9 280x and im 95% sure that it was used for mining it worked fine but i only had it for 6 months because it started to get super hot 85C+

Yeah I will. Also will be testing the card before I buy it. Benchmark, also check if over heats or does some weird stuff.

Am I the only one that feels that the fact he is his friend should make it safer? And we are talking about a high end, older but still high end graphics card at the price of what, an R7 240 or a GTX 730? I'd go for it, even 2 and selling my PSU and buying another, it's a VERY good deal to be passed.

Let's just say the people selling them are selling them because they have dropped in performance, meaning the card is on its way out
