Home Server upgrade - ASUS Z9PA-U8 & Xeon E5-2620v3

Hi guys

Just a quick question regarding the Asus Z9PA-U8 motherboard - Will it support the Xeon E5-2620v2 processor? I looked specs up on Asus page but I dont have a huge amount of experience regarding Xeon specs. So if the motherboard specs details that it supports the 2600 series Xeon processors will it then support the Xeon E5-2620v3?

Kind regards

Patrick

the E5-2620v2 is LGA 2011 socket CPU

the E5-2620v3 is LGA 2011-3 socket CPU

different sockets

the Asus board has a LGA 2011 socket ;)

the v3 will NOT work in the Asus board ;)

Okay, I see - Also checked the motherboard site on Asus. I guess I have to choose E5-2620v2 then.

The main reason I need this horse power in my home sever is because I need to run some hyper-v machines for school on it, some of the stuff is pretty heavy.
