EVGA SC 960 vs MSI R9 290?

Hey Guys, wanting to know if a super clocked 960 is better/competitive to an r9 290 similarly priced? I will also most likely be doing light to medium video editing for school. Thx for reading

A 290 is almost as fast as two 960. The 290 is much better without a doubt.

Gtx 970 is the closest thing to the 290. The 970 is actually faster than the 290 and basically performs similar to the 290x (which is a 290 with extra stream processors). Its overall a better card as it overclocks better and consumes much less power in the process. Its normally mroe expensive though.

it's comparable to a 970 (or 780, but those are out of production). A bit worse at 1080p, a bit better at 1440p and higher.

290 stomps. the 970 is more competition to the 290 ...but the 290 with a good cooler overclocks like a champ. plus 4 full gigs

actually no, the 290x has a bit more stream processors. it's not just a clock speed difference.

The 780 was to match the 290, the 780Ti beat the 290X in most games, and equaled in some others.

 

Mantle STILL isn't finished(not working 100% for everyone), and I doubt it will be for BF4, ever....., causes a lot of problems for a lot of people, yet....others have zero issues.

Hence why I say its not finished at all.

mantle isn't used in a lot of games and both cards will support dx12, so I wouldn't decide based on that.
