Sapphire r9 290 tri x XSPC razor waterblock

Go to solution Solved by FluffyNuggets,

I'd recommend using this http://www.coolingconfigurator.com/newhardware

If it's a reference PCB unmodified then that block should work but may wanna double check to make sure. Always hard to determine with some cards. I looked and was only seeing blocks for that cooler for the 290x.

Hey everyone,

i have recently been looking around for a new graphics card, and the r9 290 has caught my eye. i have found a really good price on a new r90, with the sapphire tri x cooler on it. from my understanding from many websites this card has a "reference pcb design" EK has a water block that fits it and the waterblock is identical to the reference card waterblock with the same serial code and everything. does this mean that i would be able to fit the XSPC razor block onto the card or will there be compatibility problems? and no one bring up Nvidia, they have seriously damaged my opinions on their cards after they ripped me off on my 970 :o Thanks for any help i can get

i guess i will just buy one and hope for the best. it would be a bit cheeky to go onto EK's support and ask about a rival company wouldn't it? maybe if i bought some ek fittings. Thanks :D

Ah didn't read it correctly that you wanted an XSPC block instead. Threw me off with the whole EK block thing.
