Is gaming at 27" 1080p worth it?

Go to solution Solved by mr.skyrim_pc,

My dad has a 27 inch 1080p monitor and text and other things look kinda fuzzy, but I don't think it would look all that bad when gaming. If you can, save up a bit more money and buy a 1440p monitor.

Hello

Is it worth gaming at 1080P on a 27" 144 hz monitor?  or would it be better to game at 1080p on a 24" 144 hz monitor?

I have a 1080P 27inch, and hell yes its worth it. people will say that its to big for 1080P, and to that I will tell them gaming on a 70inch 1080P is still glorious.

24 144Hz would look more natural IMO. Anything beyond 24' for a non ultrawide looks gross.

I have a 27" 1080p and its perfectly fine. (I sit about 1.5ft away)

But then again I'm also fine playing on my 1080p 55" TV also....

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

And to that I will say no one sits 2-2.5" from a 70" TV, so your logic is flawed.

Maybe I'm just biased because I have 4K 28" and a 1440 27" monitor. Compared to these, 27" 1080p looks quite bad.

It will be fine. I don't like using monitors under 27 inches.

About 1-2 feet away, you can still see the pixels a little bit, if that matters. With AA, you can't really notice it, though.

to that, I Say you never seen my nephews try to play games LOL

well, yeah obviously going from the higher res it will look worse. but between 24inch 1080P and 27inch, Ill take the 27inch. Granted I also have a large desk, so I tend to sit further then average i would say. my dad has a 23 or a 24, and I prefer my 27. I guess it really depends on your set up

Hello

Is it worth gaming at 1080P on a 27" 144 hz monitor?  or would it be better to game at 1080p on a 24" 144 hz monitor?

Using a 27" 1080' here for blur reduction, and I have two 24" 1080's Asus next to me also.

I prefer the 27" 1080p (Benq xl2720z, btw) because the two VG248QE's 24"'s I have drop in gamma drastically at higher refresh rates while the Benq doesn't.

Keep in mind that not all panels will keep tight gamma.  Varies by panel part model.

If someone offered me a 24" Benq 2420Z 1080p (has the exact same blur reduction capabilities and 60-144 hz strobe ability) or a XL2720Z 27" 1080p, I would accept the XL2720Z over the 24" 1080p every single time due to the gamma remaining tight at all refresh rates. (overdrive ghosting is less, too). Note the 24" 2420Z uses the exact same panel as the VG248, so it has the same issue with gamma drop at higher refresh rates, although it does have OSD gamma settings to compensate.
