Heavier load at whatever res you're playing at maybe?

More info is always better.

CPU, cooler, case, fans, resolution are good bits of info for questions like this.

You are running a ref cooler overclocked. Thats your issue, it was even said by Slick that the thing holding back Titan X OC's is the cooler and you should wait for non-ref.

Looks OK. Hairworks is really demanding.

87 is not ok with a custom fan curve unless his ambient temperature is extremely hot.

Case: Corsair 4000D Airflow; Motherboard: MSI ZZ490 Gaming Edge; CPU: i7 10700K @ 5.1GHz; Cooler: Noctua NHD15S Chromax; RAM: Corsair LPX DDR4 32GB 3200MHz; Graphics Card: Asus RTX 3080 TUF; Power: EVGA SuperNova 750G2; Storage: 2 x Seagate Barracuda 1TB; Crucial M500 240GB & MX100 512GB; Keyboard: Logitech G710+; Mouse: Logitech G502; Headphones / Amp: HiFiMan Sundara Mayflower Objective 2; Monitor: Asus VG27AQ

Not the issue

I can run overclocked and not exceed 71 degrees with my fan curve (which isn't even max rpm). Perhaps his isn't aggressive enough.

my ambient temp is cool. in an air conditioned room. when i exit the game temp drops significantly...to 32 deg n less.

when start up gta v at ultra...max is ard 60+ deg..never hit 70's even. but the moment i run witcher 3...temp goes up...

The game may be more widely intensive than other games...

Maybe pushing more boundaries of heavier Geometry and Shader processing... compared to other games..

Not that the game looks like it does push the boundaries that far...

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

It raises my temps too, I think it's just a very intensive game.

My top card gets up to 82-83 and my bottom card is 72 ish.

found a fix for that...manual increase your fan percentage slider to 80 to 85% using msi afterburner.

for some reason custom fan speed doesnt work well with jus this game. other games it works fine. weird!

my temp now does ard 67 deg..which is much much better than 87 deg!!

I dunno, I definitely hear the fans going nuts.

I even tried putting all the CUDA on the second card through nvidia control panel in case it was some gameworks bullshit destroying my temps.

silly me..under msi afterburner the custom fan curve the auto button was unchecked so the fans were not doing what they were supposed to! so silly of me. now everything is fixed. hope ur prob gets solved soon man.

87 C is normal operating temp for Titan X under heavy load, if it goes over 90 C you should start to worry.
