INTRO

For starters, I had my mom buy this for $40. Initially it was going to be used for a NAS, but then my dad shut that idea down, and now it is my lowly work PC. And honestly, I couldn’t be happier, especially since I love these SFF/USFF Dells.

GENERAL PERFORMANCE

A little prelude: I am not running Vista Business x64, but rather Windows 7 Home Premium x64. So yeah. Anyways, this system has a Pentium Dual-Core E5200, 4GB of DDR2 800MHz RAM, and an 80GB Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 HDD. And it ticks along pretty damn happy. I do not know the boot and shutdown times off hand, but they aren’t too bad. Things in Windows load quickly, and office work is a breeze. No complaints here.

GAMING PERFORMANCE

Well, this is a work PC. Not a gaming PC. So I can’t really speak of the gaming performance of this little computer. But it would probably suck.

MULTITASKING PERFORMANCE

Being an office PC, I have to multitask on it quite a bit. Doing things with a few tabs open in Chrome, some windows in File Explorer, doing things in Word while doing things in Excel/PowerPoint all while doing things in Quicken… No slowdowns. At all.

PORTS

On the rear, you have the power input, a DVI port which can be used with an adapter for VGA and DVI (I’m not sure if you can use both connections at the same time or not). You also have a serial port and a printer port. Underneath that, you have 5 USB 2.0 ports, a gigabit Ethernet port, line out, and a combo line in/microphone jack.

On the front, you have 2 USB 2.0 ports, a headphone jack, and a microphone jack.

NOISE

Unfortunately, my computer has a bummed rear fan (dried up, it seems), and the HDD fan is a tad noisy (air woosh). But with those two unplugged (or at least the rear fan), this system is actually pretty damn quiet.

BUILT-IN SPEAKER

Well, it’s good. It’s clear, doesn’t sound overly tinny, and… Yeah. It is a bit quiet, however I don’t really mind since I am not going to be using it for media most of the time, as it is, after all, and office/work PC. I’ll only really be hearing the beautiful Windows 7 chimes and dings and so on.

BUILD QUALITY

Well, it’s a tightly packed, tiny computer… It’s solid. The chassis as far as I can tell is made of steel, and yeah. As far as I could tell, there was little to no flex in the case. The sidepanels are fairly solid, and everything used seems to be of good quality.

POWER BRICK

It’s huge. It seems to operate cool, and it’s rated at 220 watts.

OPERATING SYSTEM

Well, it’s Windows 7 Home Premium. It’s fast, somewhat lightweight, and it’s perfect for an office PC. Not much to say here.

CONCLUSION

Overall, for the money and how old this computer is, it is snappy, quick, and fairly quiet. Not to mention it looks nice.

IS IT WORTH IT?

Depending on what you’re going to use it for and how much you get it for, maybe. For how much my mom paid, I think it is totally worth it. I was looking for a little computer that I could use mainly for a NAS, but now that I use it for an office/work PC, I think it’s even more worth it. Some people may look at it and think that it’s a bad deal considering its age and the fact that it was $40, but in reality, it is more or less a steal. Then again, I love these things so I might be slightly biased.

Haha, that's kind of funny. I just fixed up 13 Opti 760s at work the other day.

Although, I can't say I agree with their performance...I find them slowing down quite a bit, but that could also be because I'm used to having ssds.

Mine actually seems to snap along really quickly, and I hate slow.

I think BitFenix is short on ideas...
