Dedicating SSD space to HDD?

I was hoping someone could tell me how, or give me a guide to how to dedicate SSD space to use as a cache for HDDs

Do you mean that you want to use your SSD as a cache for your HDD?

 

If so then this can be done on compatible Intel platforms using Intel Smart Response:

I'm not sure if there is another way to do this, for example on AMD platforms.

 

I would recommend you install Windows onto the SSD as the main drive then use your HDD for mass storage. This allows you to choose what goes onto your SSD and the entire OS boots very quickly, but you will have to manage the disk space yourself. You can move your documents and settings to the HDD too to manage space usage better (which is realy easy on Windows 7, 8 and 8.1).

I'd mainly use this on my friends pc that i built for him. we both have an I7-4790k and Z97 mobos. I have a 128gb ssd and he has a 256gb one i think. He has a lot to spare and i heard there was a way you can dedicate several gbs of ssd space to use as cache for a hdd

You mean you already have your OS on the SSD?

 

In that case I'm not sure how you could cache your HDD on part of the SSD. You might be able to achieve this with FancyCache, but I've never used it so you would be on your own there:

If you have samsung ssd's you can enable RAPID to use the ram as cache. It says it only works for 1 ssd but i'm quite sure it also caches hdd stuff.

Loading times in games i play at certain periods a lot load always a lot faster after some time. So i blame the rapid cache for that
