It's probably because its a sketchy sounding brand name. I've never even heard of 'KingFast' before. That SSD is probably as trustworthy as an OEM psu.

I would say its also because the new standard for laptops is becoming m.2 drives, which is making mSATA drives more obsolete

While I can't provide much help on that SSD, though I agree with the others that its just an odd brand, I would question why do you need / want an ssd for the server?  If its going to be streaming video you'll be limited by your network even on a semi decent HDD, if its for storage you'll want multiple drives for redundancy anyway.  If you just want something smaller to install the OS on than the larger 2TB or such drives depending on your plans you may be able to run the OS right from some decent quality usb thumb drives.

 

I have FreeNAS 9.3 running off a pair of mirrored 16GB usb thumb drives from sandisk currently and then use 10 2TB drives for the ZFS raid array for storage.  I love it :)
