MSI AMD Radeon HD 6970

red_dr4gon1

Ok I am helping my friend who is looking at the card for a system upgrade. They have a dell xps 8300. I have this card in one of my rigs with a 700 watt PSU and it is a nice and cheep card.

Main work PC:Surface Pro 3 i3 with a 128 GB micro sd card

Unfortantely that's a very power hungry card. I wouldn't risk it you're better off upgrading your PSU first.

what is your friend running where a 6970 is an upgrade? theres got to be cheaper options in the 7000 or 200 series

The msi 6970 is a pretty good card for most games.

yes but out dated and not very power efficient and probably wont last as long as newer cards. like be honest would you really go with an older card when you could go with a newer one for a similar to better price and performance?

Like I dont know what price you're getting it for, but wouldnt this realistically be a better choice? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Club-3D-R9-270X-Radeon-R9-270X-Internal-Graphic-Card-2048-MB-GDDR5-256BIT-/251963584414?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2&hash=item3aaa332f9e

plus a newer card is more likely to be able to run on a lower power supply
