Dillemma between gtx 970 and the AMD Rx 300 series

Aranium

I need some help. I was thinking of buying the Gigabyte gtx 970 gaming G1, but Ive now read that AMD should be releasing the Rx 300 series next week. Theyll be using HBM and I don't know if it's worth the wait. I sold my PC and I was thinking of buying a new one today. I have a few questions:

Is the rx 380x going to have the PCIe x16 3.0 input so I could use it. (Motherboard is MSI b85 g43)

Can I use the integrated graphics I get from the i5 4590 (hd 4600)without any issues for a few days?

And finally, whats your opinion on if I should wait or not.

1: You don't need a PCIe 3.0, but it will work.

2: Yes

3: Sure, why not. It's a new GPU, if you don't mind the extra heat and power consumption.

You dont need PCIe 3.0 for a GPU to work

I would get the r9 380x if I were you.

You dont even have any benchmarks or prices to compare it to a 970

Dont recommend products that dont exist yet

I don't care, it will be cheaper, and most likely have better overclocking potential.

lol this made you look stupid. and enderman is right, you never recommend things that dont exist yet, youve got no idea what it will be priced out, how it performs, or if it will even compete.

I will not be overclocking.

I would get the 970.

I don't see the point in buying rebranded graphic card with shallow drivers.

"Is it worth the wait?"

We're talking about a 1-week wait here right? Hardly a huge deal, of course it's worth the wait, you have the potential to spend less money for more capability, at the cost of not having a high-powered graphics card for 1 week on a machine with a useful lifespan of several years. And if it turns out not to be very impressive the GTX 970 will still be available.

As for integrated graphics, they'd be pretty worthless if you couldn't use them for a few days, wouldn't they :P lots of people use them for the entire life of their machine, so it'll be perfectly functional if that's what you're worried about.

Should I get a stronger power supply fir an amd card then. I was thinking of buying fractal 550W 80+bronze but maybe 550w wont be enough for the new cards?

lol now you're just making assumptions

you have 0 proof that it will be cheaper

and most likely it will not overclock better since AMD cards will still run hotter and use more power
