Temps ok?

Just curious what you guys think of these temps for an i7-4790k at 4.5 GHZ

Nope. 87C is terrible. What were you doing to hit that high?

Sticking in the 70s is okay but having it shoot up to almost 90 is concerning.

Just lowered to 1.2V here is a stress test for 10 min

Stress testing with that temp is fine.

Core I7 5960X / Gigabyte X99 SOC Force / Kingston 16GB DDR4 3000 / EVGA GTX 980 Classified's In Quad SLI / EVGA 1600W G2

Core I7 6700K / Asus Z170 Maximus VIII Hero / Corsair 16GB DDR4 3000 / MSI R9 290X Lightning / EVGA 1600W T2

Your signature doesn't show up on mobile.

I'm going to guess it is a hyper 212 evo based on the temps and voltage.

Try knocking the voltage down to 1.23 and if stable drop again. This will lower your temps. If it isn't stable then I'd recommend going to 4.4 at about 1.2v

This is what I got at 4.5GHz and 1.2 volts, and its a be quiet! Pure Rock. I ran a stress test for 15 hours yesterday and its pretty stable at this voltage.

Those temps are great for stressing.

I was stressing FPU and cache too. Whats your cooler?

True, but if you have an after market cooler your temps should be a lot better than what they are. Im trying to find a screen shot of my i7 with a stock cooler.....
