Is a decent 500w PSU enough to power a 1231v3 w/ r9 280x

Rockwell
Go to solution Solved by joejoe23,

I'm running 4670k + 280x on a 520W psu. No problem after a year.

The information in the sticky post about PSU's was very helpful, but i would still like to double check with you wonderful people to make sure i don't put my computer at risk because i didn't ask. I've got a 500w EVGA 80+ bronze power supply with a G3258 and an R9 280x. About to upgrade to a xeon 1231v3 with a TDP of 80w compared to the G3258 with a TDP of 52w. This should still be pretty safe, no? Any and all help appreciated!

R9 280 yes, R9 280x, eh, I'd go with a 550W, but a 500W would be fine if you don't overclock.
